See Lives Changed Through Access: Compassion

As August came and went, Potter & Clay celebrated two years of serving in Mare Rouge, Haiti! Truth be told, our staff had no idea what was in store for us as we entered this summer. We began this year with a goal to see malnutrition and its consequences diminish, and ultimately end, in the lives of the families we serve.  In our minds, that meant calorie-rich therapeutic food, with education and support along the way.

However, when we began asking questions – we realized that malnutrition treatment was a band-aid to the gushing wound that these families were trying to heal. With Haiti’s worsening economic conditions, supporting families and keeping them together took on a new meaning, accompanied by a sense of urgency.

In 2017, we chose the name Potter & Clay based on our desire for the Lord to shape the ministry as we strive to serve our community. Over the summer, what we experienced was just that – a changing and molding that has led us to where we are today.

One of the best parts about living in Mare Rouge, Haiti is that we are able to meet, speak with, and put faces to the people that have been directly impacted by Potter & Clay Ministries. Through love and service, Potter & Clay Ministries’ staff is enriching lives of the wonderful people of Mare Rouge, Haiti and its surrounding communities.

Through our weighing sessions, Potter & Clay Ministries has been able to support families and ensure access to basic medical care, malnutrition screening, and life-saving vaccines!

When we talk with our staff and other members of our community, one thing is clear: there are many needs. Throughout this month, we will be highlighting our new community initiatives that began through a desire to see malnutrition not only treated but prevented. We can’t wait to share the changes taking place in the lives of those we serve!
