Happenings in Haiti - January 2022
Potter & Clay Ministries is off to a great start in 2022 - thanks to you!
In November of last year, the Lord began stirring something within our hearts as he was opening our eyes to the needs in our community. There was a need for inpatient malnutrition treatment - and we couldn't ignore it.
Families were coming to Potter & Clay's center seeking help in a different, more urgent way. Sometimes it was due to the loss of a baby's mother, sometimes it was due to malnutrition in a child, sometimes it was because they had nothing to feed their children and Potter & Clay was their last resort.
We knew it was time to reopen the inpatient malnutrition center, and YOU jumped into action!
Through the fulfillment of our Amazon Wishlist, we received countless supplies needed to provide the best care possible for breastfeeding moms, babies, and children. THANK YOU to each of you who supported us with tangible donations!
Opening each box, imagining the families that will receive healing here, brought us so much joy and encouragement!
Medika Mamba (translated "peanut butter medicine") is the life-saving therapeutic food used to treat severe acute malnutrition throughout Haiti. Each box costs about $75 and covers the treatment of one child recovering from malnutrition.
Thank you to some amazing friends, we are stocked with 105 boxes of this life-saving treatment!
How far would you walk to ensure your baby’s health?
For some of the moms in Potter & Clay’s formula program, they walk TWO HOURS one way to get their baby’s formula for the week. These women are examples of strength and courage, and it’s our honor to walk alongside them to ensure their baby stays in their arms.
We would like to say a very special thank you to Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Arkansas who graciously purchased and shipped FOUR months worth of formula to support families in Haiti. From all of us here in Mare Rouge, thank you Mt. Zion family for showing Christ’s love in this way.
We have so much to look forward to in February!
We will be completing preparations like recovering the roof of the inpatient center, as well as renovating this container to be used as office space. We can't wait to see children beating malnutrition in this space!
From the bottom of our hearts,
We want to thank everyone who supports us prayerfully and financially on this journey. We learn more and more each day, but we know for sure it would NOT be possible without those of you who rally behind us. It feels like the last six and a half years of life in Haiti has prepared us for what's happening now.
We have worked with malnourished children for a long time, but thanks to our wonderful Haitian staff - we have a team ready to work intricately with the families in our care to support them however they can.
It's such a beautiful thing, and we are thankful to witness the love of Christ being shared in our community each day.
